Parish History

In 1854 a Catholic Mass was celebrated in Marlborough for the first time. Until then, the few Catholics who lived in Marlborough had to travel the 16 miles to Worcester each weekend for Mass. Many of them left on Saturday evening and returned on Sunday. It was this love for the Mass, this desire to receive the Blessed Sacrament that led the faithful to petition the bishop for a priest and parish of their own. Since then the seed of faith which they planted has grown and flourished in Marlborough.
